Services
-
Supporting the mental health of local artists is central to my work at Collingwood Yards. I appreciate the particular pressures and vulnerabilities that creative work can bring, and have substantial experience counselling artists in private practice as well as staff and students at the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
-
As a proud member of Melbourne's Queer community, I offer informed and affirming mental health care that honours the diversity of people's genders, sexualities, neurotypes, and relationships.
-
I have substantial experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, and am committed to ongoing learning in culturally safe and responsive practice.
-
I've been supporting Australian Defence Force members in private practice since 2008. Referrals can be arranged through your Defence medical officer. Bupa will coordinate the scheduling of your initial appointment.
-
In addition to my consultation and training services, I offer psychotherapy sessions for medical, allied health, and mental health professionals to support your personal healing, occupational wellbeing, or embodied practice of DBR.
-
I also welcome clients beyond these communities, providing specialised care for PTSD, traumatic bereavement, and the painful presence of absence in early-life relationships.
Please note: Services for new clients are currently limited to focused courses of sessions rather than longer-term psychotherapy.

Fees and Rebates
Fees are offered on a sliding scale. Tier 1 is the rate suggested by the Australian Psychological Society. Subsequent tiers are intended as additional access points to support health equity.
| Tier | Fee | Medicare | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $318.00 | $145.25 | $172.75 |
| 2 | $286.00 | $145.25 | $140.75 |

| 4 | $223.00 | $145.25 | $77.75 |
Please choose a tier that aligns with your financial capacity and personal circumstances – I can help if you’re unsure. Let me know if your circumstances change and I’ll move you up or down a tier accordingly.
Fees are payable by card at the end of your session.
The Medicare rebate applies to up to 10 sessions per calendar year for clients referred by their GP or psychiatrist under the Better Access Initiative (Mental Health Treatment Plan).
Personal sessions for mental health professionals can be invoiced as a professional development consultation when appropriate.
An expanded sliding scale is available for a small caseload of clients based in Southeast Asia. Contact me for details.
Fees are reviewed annually on 1 July in line with CPI.
Amounts are in Australian dollars.

Dr Dan Costin
Approved DBR Consultant supervised by Dr Frank Corrigan
I'm a clinical psychologist working with adults in private practice, drawing from somatic and neuroscience-informed approaches that attend to the relational, cultural, and physiological dimensions of mental health and wellbeing.
Deep Brain Reorienting
Developed by Dr Frank Corrigan, DBR is a transformational trauma psychotherapy that aims to access and process unresolved experiences by tracking the sequence of physiological responses that occurred when the deep brain was initially alerted to a threat or attachment disruption.
This conversation with Frank and DBR Trainer Sarah Jenkins provides an accessible overview of DBR and how it can support the healing of PTSD and other trauma-related conditions.
For further information head to the DBR website, or explore clinical research on DBR being conducted by Dr Ruth Lanius and her team at Western University in Canada.
